What's on

Shows, comedy, open mics, jams and classes across the metro. The recurring listings come from the venues' own published schedules — always confirm with the venue before you drive.

Covering Manhattan, Brooklyn, Chelsea, East Village, Williamsburg, Queens, Astoria, Long Island City, Midtown West, Forest Hills and Greenwich Village.

New York's improv scene rebuilt itself after the pandemic and came back bigger: the Brooklyn Comedy Collective alone stages around thirty shows a week across two East Williamsburg venues, Magnet Theater and The PIT anchor the Chelsea corridor on West 29th Street, UCB is back in the East Village, and The Second City opened its first New York home in Williamsburg. Add Asylum NYC's comedy calendar in Flatiron, and there is improv on somewhere in this city every single night.

Everything below is read from the venues' own published schedules, links to their own box offices, and the classes page compares every major training program in the city.

Quick answers

Where can I see improv in New York tonight?

Somewhere, guaranteed: Brooklyn Comedy Collective runs about thirty shows a week in East Williamsburg, The PIT runs a jam or an open mic every single day of the week, and Magnet, UCB, Asylum NYC and The Second City New York fill out the rest. The calendar above shows tonight's verified listings.

Where should I take improv classes in NYC?

The big programs are UCB's game-based curriculum in the East Village, Magnet's levels in Chelsea, The PIT's classes and daily drop-ins, Brooklyn Comedy Collective's $375 levels, and The Second City's Brooklyn training center. The New York classes page compares them all.

Is there cheap improv in New York?

Yes - The PIT runs improv jams, open mics and $25-35 drop-in classes seven days a week, and its Sunday jam and Saturday open mic are $5 cash at the door. BCC's drop-in classes are $35, and Magnet's class shows are $5. Filter the calendar by 'Open jams'.
