  • The Bird Comedy Theater

    Downtown / Crossroads

    The Bird Training Center, all 8-week courses ending in a performance at the theater: Intro to Improv, Tuesdays 7-9pm, Oct 20 - Dec 8 2026; Long Form II and Long Form III, Sundays 7pm, Oct 18 - Dec 6 2026; Sketch Comedy I: Sketch Writing, Sundays 4pm, Oct 18 - Dec 6 2026 — all showcasing Thursday Dec 3 at Open Thursday.   • The KC Improv Company

    Westport / Waldo

    The KC Improv Company Training Center: Improv 101 (beginner, Saturdays 12:30-2:15pm), Improv 201 (Wednesdays 8:00-9:30pm) and Improv 301: Improvised Scene Work (Saturdays 10:30am-12:15pm), each 8 weeks at $210 and taught at The Bowery in Westport, attached to the Westport Flea Market. Also an any-level drop-in Thursdays at 7pm at The KC Bier Co. in Waldo. The homepage additionally advertises an Improv 250 on Monday nights at 7:00. Scholarships and work-study places are available, many scholarships covering half the class fee. Start dates for the next round of classes are to be announced.

  • The Guild Theater

    Lawrence KS

    The Guild Theater — 'the home of comedy in Lawrence, Kansas! Improv, game shows, live comedy talk shows, parodies of movies and television shows and more!' — hosts improv workshops every Tuesday evening at 6:30pm. Your first month of workshops is free, and they stay cheap after that. The theater is a nonprofit, so attending supports the arts in and around Lawrence.

    Lawrence KS

    Lawrence Arts Center's School of Theatre & Music runs a 5-week, all-levels Adult Improv class (ages 18+) on Mondays 6:30-7:25pm at its 10th & Mass Studios for $100: Adult Improv A runs September 14 - October 12 2026 and Adult Improv B runs October 19 - November 16 2026, taught by Chris Kramer — 'a supportive group that encourages collaboration, creativity, and big laughs.' For anyone who has taken an Arts Center improv class in the last five years (or has instructor approval) there is also the Adult Improv Performance Troupe, Mondays 7:30-8:25pm, September 14 - October 26 2026, 7 weeks, $140, taught by Leah Towle — 'Members will create an ensemble, build confidence in improvising, and perform for the public at Final Fridays!' Enrol through the class catalog.

  • Act Your Age Improv

    Improv classes for older adults built around the health benefits of laughter and connection, with sessions at KU Medical Center and the Roeland Park Community Center (per KCUR).

  • Kansas City's Improv Springboard

    Nonprofit running improv workshops and performance opportunities for women and nonbinary improvisers (per KCUR). No website — find them on Facebook as KC Improv Springboard.
