London's improv scene has quietly become one of the biggest in the world. Hoopla — the UK's first improv theatre — runs shows seven nights a week at The Miller by London Bridge and is turning twenty in 2026; the Free Association trains hundreds of students a term from its own venue in the Southwark arches; the Comedy Store Players have held their Sunday-night slot in the West End for four decades; and Angel Comedy's Bill Murray pub in Islington is the official UK home of Second City, with comedy every single night.

Very much — the Free Association's 90-minute beginner taster is £20 and the fee comes off a full course if you continue, Hoopla runs beginner taster workshops and drop-ins, and Angel Comedy hosts free comedy writing gyms. Showstopper tickets at the Cambridge Theatre start at £20.
